‍The main function of the submersible pump protector is to seal the submersible motor and prevent well fluid from entering the motor. The protector can maintain a balance between the internal pressure of the motor and the pressure at the suction port. At the same time, when the motor is running, the lubricating oil inside the motor expands due to temperature rise. There is enough space in the protector to store the oil that overflows due to expansion. On the contrary, when the temperature of the lubricating oil decreases and contracts, the oil inside the protector can be returned and replenished to the motor. The upper end of the protector is connected to the separator (suction port), and the shaft end is connected to ensure that the weight of the pump shaft, hydraulic load, and axial force of the impeller are fully or partially transmitted to the thrust bearing of the protector. The lower end of the protector is connected to the motor and allows the motor shaft to extend due to temperature rise.
